At MSV Housing we’re committed to making sure our customers have safe, warm and good quality homes, and our Gas Engineers are key to making this happen. We are looking to recruit an experienced Gas Engineer with strong technical and customer service skills to join our established team.
Reporting to the Gas/Service Manager, our Gas Engineers provide a comprehensive service including annual gas servicing, breakdown diagnosis and repair, and installation of heating systems across our housing stock. In addition, we are looking for candidates that have a passion to advocate on behalf of people and communities.
What do our Gas Engineers do;
Install, service, and upgrade domestic heating systems in line with schedules, budgets, and regulatory standards.
Diagnose and repair faults across heating and plumbing systems, ensuring high-quality and safe workmanship.
Provide excellent customer service by liaising professionally with residents, managing appointments, and ensuring satisfaction on completion.
Ensure full compliance with Gas Safe, HSE, and company policies, including issuing certification and maintaining accurate records.
Support efficient service delivery by managing materials, maintaining tools and vehicles, contributing to team performance, and participating in out-of-hours emergency call-outs.
What we are looking for;
Valid ACS qualifications and Gas Safe registration, with relevant City & Guilds certification
Proven experience as a Gas/Heating Engineer, delivering servicing, repairs, and installations
Strong technical knowledge of domestic (and ideally commercial) heating systems, including fault diagnosis and maintenance
Good understanding of health & safety regulations (including Gas Safe and HSE compliance)
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents and stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload effectively with minimal supervision
Full, current UK driving licence
A proactive approach with the ability to identify improvements and contribute to service quality
This is a hands-on role at the heart of the service that MSV delivers to our customers, so your effective communication skills and ability to understand with empathy the diverse needs of our customers will be key. You’ll be based in the communities we serve and will work under minimum supervision and as part of a team using a flexible approach.
We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. As this job is based within our property care team where you’ll be entering the homes of our customers, a basic criminal records background check (free of charge to you) is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily stop you from working with us. All decisions regarding convictions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy’s candidate pack.
We offer a range of great benefits including:
Company vehicle
Flexibility on where you work with home working kit provided
33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday a buy scheme.

Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay
