Health & Safety Advisor
Contract Type: Fixed Term, Full Time – Maternity cover for up to 12 months
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Location: Agile – Trafford House
Salary: £34,725 - £37,007

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on safety pro who can keep us on track with our statutory responsibilities, support colleagues, and help champion a strong health & safety culture across the whole organisation. Whether you’re already an experienced advisor or stepping up from an assistant role with the right skills and drive, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a maternity cover role for up to 12 months, and you’ll be working closely with our Health & Safety Manager, supporting everything from accident investigations to training, audits and compliance. If you’re practical, people focused and love seeing safe systems come to life, this role is for you.
What our H&S Advisor does:
Here’s what you can expect to get stuck into:
Support the delivery of MSV’s Health & Safety arrangements and ensure our legal duties are always met.
Help drive a positive, proactive safety culture across all teams and contractors.
Contribute to risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH and other compliance checks.
Support and deliver H&S training where appropriate.
Monitor and report on H&S performance and support managers with follow up actions.
Oversee accident/incident management, guide low risk investigations and identify trends
Keep the lone worker system running smoothly and resolve any usage issues.
Manage PPE processes and occupational health surveillance activity.
Carry out workplace safety inspections and recommend improvements.
Support DSE assessments and other day to day safety processes.
Maintain statutory H&S records and support audit requirements.
Provide guidance to the H&S Assistant when needed.
What we’re looking for:
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
A NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety (or equivalent).
Commitment to working toward a NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5.
Experience working within a Health & Safety environment.
Strong knowledge of relevant H&S legislation and good practice.
Confident communication skills and able to influence, support and advise.
Brilliant organisation skills and great attention to detail.
Experience with risk assessments, accident investigations or audits.
A collaborative, supportive approach and the ability to work proactively.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Northwest
If you’ve been involved in policy development, that’s a bonus but not essential.
