We’re looking for a proactive and organised Health & Safety Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, keeping things organised and supporting the delivery of effective health and safety systems across the organisation.

Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and Assistant Advisor, you’ll help coordinate a wide range of activities — from risk assessments and audits to training, incidents and compliance systems — playing an important part in maintaining a positive safety culture across MSV.

What you’ll be doing;

  • Managing and monitoring the Health & Safety inbox, ensuring queries and actions are logged, allocated and followed through
  • Supporting the coordination of audits, inspections and risk assessments, ensuring records are accurate and up to date
  • Tracking accidents, incidents and near misses, and supporting investigation follow-ups and RIDDOR processes
  • Coordinating Health & Safety training and maintaining accurate training records
  • Supporting the administration of systems such as lone working, DSE and other H&S platforms
  • Monitoring PPE, first aid and fire safety arrangements across the organisation
  • Liaising with managers to support the implementation of Health & Safety processes and requirements
  • Assisting in the preparation of Health & Safety performance reports and data
  • Supporting document control, record keeping and updates to internal systems (e.g. intranet)
  • Taking minutes at meetings and supporting general team administration

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of Health & Safety activities and play a key part in keeping our systems and processes running effectively.

What we are looking for;

  • A good standard of education (minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent)
  • Experience of supporting a team with administrative tasks
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to work proactively and use your own initiative
  • Confident using IT systems and managing data and records
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A collaborative and supportive approach

It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:

  • Experience working in a health and safety or compliance environment
  • An interest in developing a career in health and safety
